ReplyDeleteNow frey look awesome and addictive!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, those look amazingly delicious! Stopping by from the Networking Blog Hop…I would love if you would come say hello :)
ReplyDeleteModern Modest Beauty
Yum! Looks delicious!!
ReplyDeleteYou're a genius! :)
ReplyDeleteOh yes! Pinned and following. Loving your single-serving recipes!
ReplyDeleteThis is adorable! I love single-serving treats like this!
ReplyDeleteThanks! yah me too… It's almost becoming an obsession. hahaha;)
DeleteOh my gosh! Heavenly! Can't wait to try this.
ReplyDeleteso so good! thanks for sharing:)
ReplyDeleteThis looks so amazing! And I love that they are single servings. I'm your newest subscriber!
ReplyDeleteLooks delicious! I'm wondering though.. does it taste overly "eggy" at all? Every single-serve recipe I've made before seems to taste too much like eggs when it's done. :\ (Probably from the ratio of egg to other ingredients.) Thoughts on this one?
ReplyDeleteHi there! Yah, I know what you mean. I've had the same problem multiple times… But I liked the texture of this cookie and didn't find it very eggy at all. Of course everyone has different opinions though. :) In the past, when I've re-done a single serving recipe, I just reduce the amount of egg I use {since most call for a whole, I sometime use 3/4-1/2}… I hope this helps! Thanks !:)
DeleteI know EXACTLY what you mean! I substituted coconut oil (about 1.5 heaping tablespoons) for the egg yolk and it tasted WONDERFUL! It was a little 'crumblier' than with the egg, but the slight coconut flavor was delicious.
DeleteI'm allergic to egg yolks so I only used whites and it tasted perfect to me. If the yolks too eggy for you try an egg white instead:)
DeleteI don't have any eggs at home and I know applesauce can sometimes be used as a substitute - do you think that would work here?
ReplyDeleteHmmmm… It might! Although I think applesauce/mashed banana usually replaces the oils. Give it a shot though!
DeleteI know this was a while ago, but here's a great link for replacing eggs in various things: http://chefinyou.com/egg-substitutes-cooking/
DeleteI did it with applesauce, and also with pumpkin! (The pumpkin was the best) I used maybe a teaspoon instead of the egg. But it did work. My family actually couldn't tell there was applesauce and it was so moist!
DeleteI tried this tonight and my kids devoured it! I doubled the recipe and it was a tad sweet. Next time I will use one and a half tablespoons of white and brown sugar for a double recipe. Also I cooked in for 1:40 minutes in my microwave for it to be done. Fun!!
ReplyDeletei love this!! perfect for a late night sweet tooth craving! :)
ReplyDeleteBaked goods are NOT meant for the microwave. It ruins them. It completely cooked the egg and burned. It was a good thought though, so I just ate a bunch of chocolate chips instead.
ReplyDeleteHmm… Sorry to hear it didn't work for you! I've had the same issue with other single servings. Sometimes I just reduce the amount of egg {to either 1/2 - 3/4 of an egg} and that usually gets rid of the weird texture. So try that one next time! :)
DeleteI used to make single serving cookie in a ramekin! Although I cheated and would use pre-made cookie dough, and bake it in the oven for less than 15 minutes, so it is undercooked! Then I added ice cream on top of it. Delicious! I might just have to try your from scratch and microwave version though!
ReplyDeleteWow that sounds AMAZING! Seriously. My mouth is watering;)
DeleteThis is so..... Mine did not turn out anything like this!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMaking this as we speak, but I'm doubling the recipe for me & hubs. I used 2 egg yolks, but do you think 1 egg would work if I mix it all together & separate into two ramekins for cooking?
ReplyDeleteIs there a trick to microwaving it? I've tried it twice, and both times it exploded all over the microwave. At first I just thought my ramekin was too small, but when I moved it into a small bowl it still oozed everywhere.
ReplyDeleteMicrowave temps vary. If it is exploding try lowering your power setting.
DeleteI just tried it, I dont know what I did wrong... it looks nothing like the picture... it started boiling... its just a big mess.... :(
ReplyDeleteI tried this twice and it wasn't bad but was chewy... Just couldn't get it right. If I cooked it less it would hang been undercooked :(
ReplyDeleteI just made this without egg and it turned out pretty good! Instead of egg I used about 1 tsp of ground flaxseed with 1 tbsp of water. Definitely not the same as an oven baked cookie, but a quick sweet when you don't want to go to the trouble of making a whole batch of cookies.

ReplyDeleteI just made this and it was so good! I cooked it for the whole 60 seconds, and it came out exactly like the picture.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I would change for next time, is I would add a scoop of icecream on top! Yum!
REALLY good!Didn't think it would turn out, but it was very yummy!
ReplyDeleteJust made this and it was actually good! Sorry I was really skeptic about it. My kids loved it too!
ReplyDeleteI found this to be pasty.
ReplyDeleteMine didn't look like the picture, it looked kinda floury and raw still, so I kept heating it, thinking it wasn't done. I overcooked it a little bit (actually it probably wasn't overcooked at all, but I like mine really gooey), but it was still really good! Topped it with some ice cream, and it was perfect. Next time I think I'll use 1/2 tablespoon of each of the sugars, because it was a tad bit too sweet for me!
ReplyDeleteLate night snack...soooo yummy in my tummy! Thanks for sharing this recipe!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely amazing. Just made this - you're a dream! Perfect portion control for stressed student ;)
ReplyDeleteJust finished making it and it was amazing! but i was wondering if there is a way to bake them in the oven instead of using the microwave?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure there is! I've never done it though, but feel free to give it a shot!
DeleteThis is delicious and the perfect "hit the spot" for that sweet little something I was craving! I have Celiac so I just substituted in my Gluten Free flour and it came out perfectly! Delicious! Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteJust made this for my family. I quadrupled the recipe exactly and cooked for 90 seconds in microwave and let rest a minute. Maybe a tad much four but that's because my son measured it. Looked and tastes perfect especially with a scoop of ice cream on top. Thanks so much!!
ReplyDeleteI just had to comment on this. Thought I'd give this a try. I think what is going wrong with alot of people cookie is the microwave power. Have learnt, the hard way, that my microwave is pretty powerful and burns alot of things. So I turned the power of my microwave to 720 watts, cooked the cookie for 50 secs and it came out perfectly! Ice cream on top definitely would have been good.
ReplyDeleteMmmmmm, this really hit the spot when I was craving something sweet! I made it with xylitol in place of the white sugar, palm sugar in place of the brown, and whole wheat flour(I do these substitutions in most of my baking)and it turned out great! Big portion though so I shared with my sons...topped it all off with ice cream and it was a wonderful treat. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteMade it exactly as noted above and it came out kind of chalky. Wasn't very tasty and my husband and i ended up throwing it out. I think the problem may have been I was expecting the same chocolate chip cookie taste that was missing. Urg, sorry about that one.

ReplyDeleteHmm… Sorry it didn't work out for you! Some have said the same thing, but it works for a lot of people too! :P
DeleteJust tried this quick and tasty treat in my favorite coffee mug, and it turned out delicious!! Thanks for such a sweet and simple recipe for us single gals ;)
ReplyDeleteDude. Yes.
ReplyDeletejust made it twice!!! loved it! suggest lowering the time to make it mushy like a warm cookie :D
ReplyDeleteYeah, mine didn't turn out anything like the picture. It was very chewy and tasted a little strange. I think I'll stick with my chocolate cake in a mug
ReplyDeleteI just tried this! It tastes amazing and it's super easy.
ReplyDeleteSo trying this recipe tomorrow!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks so yummy, besides I lovvvvee chocolate chip cookies :)
This was wonderful, it filled my cravings completely! I also put a dollop of ice cream on top. mmmm:)
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought it was really funky-tasting, but it's growing on me! Ha!
ReplyDeleteJust thought I'd offer this suggeston: I made this in a coffee mug the other day, and it turned out pretty good. Thought I'd try it again and add ice cream. I used a different mug tonight, and it did not "cook" and almost looked like it was about to blow. I transferred it back to the same cup I used the other day and finished cooking, and it turned out good again. So if you have problems you may want to try again in a different container...
ReplyDeleteI am totally obsessed with your single serving dishes, planning to do it one by one.happy to follow u.
ReplyDeleteI didn't have egg and I used a tablespoon of vanilla protein powder. Actually tastes surprisingly good!
ReplyDeletemine turned out very crumbly and not good tasting... yuck
ReplyDeleteJust made this and I have been reading everyone's comments about it not turning out good. Here is what I think the problem is. You probably need to cook it in a wide shallow something so it doesn't end up too thick. If it gets too thick then the middle will get overcooked and be crumbly and hard. I mixed mine in a small pyrex bowl then microwaved it in that. The middle where it is thicker is over cooked, but the edges are perfect. Also, if you have a powerful microwave (it should say somewhere on it, mine is 1100 watts, which is a lot), you might have to turn the power down when you cook it, then cook it for the full time. That's just what I think would help.
ReplyDeleteI think I love you. Thank you for saving me from my "what the heck can I eat, I have nothing here" day!! :) :)
ReplyDeleteRachel
I just made one, with a little tweaking. I didn't have an egg yolk I could part with, so I looked it up and found you could mix 1 Tbsp vinegar with 1 tsp baking soda to get the light, fluffiness needed in cookies. I did that and it was pretty good! I think next time I will leave out the salt, since the baking soda adds a "salty" quality. I also lowered my 1250watt microwave down to 60% and did if for a minute. It was a little overcooked, but next time I'm sure it will be perfect in 50 seconds. I am so glad I found this on Pinterest!
ReplyDeletemade this and it was wonderful, followed your instructions exactly but decided to put it in for an additional 10 seconds after the minute :) so good! thanks!
ReplyDeleteI substituted peanut butter for the butter. Yum!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome, great for when you want a sweet treat but not the temptation for days of a whole batch. Turns out much better textured/tasting/looking if you cream the butter with the sugars like you would for a normal cookie than if you melt the butter. I also used half semisweet chocolate chips and half butterscotch chips - it's kind of my standard "secret" recipe for chocolate chip cookies. Yum!
ReplyDeleteI substituted a tablespoon of cocoa (dutch process, specifically) for a tablespoon of the flour and made myself a single-serving brownie. It was awesome.
ReplyDeletePerfect! I made 2. Hubby wanted cookies the other day, but I made brownies instead. Saw this one, and ti was fate!! I had 2 tbsp of butter leftover from the last thing I made! I did nuke it for a bit longer, probably about 1:30 or maybe evne longer, but I had 2 in the micro and it seemed to be running a little slow. After 1 min it was still totally raw.
ReplyDeleteMy little girl and I each made one of these together. It was fun to do and they were delicious! ...I can't figure out why so many people are having so many problems with making them. It was so easy! :)
ReplyDeleteOMG! Eating one right now! Turned out perfect! Would be divine with a small scoop of ice cream on top! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLOVE!!! LOVE!!! LOVE!!! Just made two of them and they were great with ice cream! Next time I will cut some of the egg and add a bit more brown sugar. Don't be bothered it it "looks" not done. 1 minute was perfect! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteMine did not turn out. :( It was a big crumbly mess.
ReplyDeleteI just made this and it was so good! I love that it is a single serving because my husband is allergic to chocolate so i hadnt been able to make chocolate chip cookies since being married because i couldnt justify baking a whole batch for just me. Now i can enjoy chocolate chip cookies at home again! Yay!
ReplyDeletei LOVE making these for that little chocolatey goodness without having the temptation of eating a whole batch! I was wondering if you had any idea of the calorie count for this single serving?
ReplyDeleteI just made this for my mom. She loved it. And by my best bet it's about 400-450 calories
ReplyDeleteI just made this for my mom. She loved it. And by my best bet it's about 400-450 calories
ReplyDeleteTurned out pretty good. I cooked it for 40 seconds and it wasn't as moist as I would prefer. I did use Parkay spread from the bottle because I was out of stick butter. Next time I will do it for about 30 seconds if I use Parkay again. That should be perfect. I'm on a baking frenzy and I wanted to make chocolate chip cookies from scratch tonight, but realized I was out of butter. This satisfied me enough to wait til I hit the grocery for some baked cookies. Thanks for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is perfect for a hot summer day when you don't want to turn on the oven. Truly, perfect for anytime you want a cookie! :D
ReplyDeleteHey, just stopping by.
ReplyDeleteJust tried making this for myself and my grandparents who were stoked to have a sweet treat yet not tempted to eat a whole batch of cookies. We put them in a glass bowl, maybe that was the problem, but ours didn't do anything but bubble over. After one minute it looked like a soupy mess so we just tried cooking it more and all it did was overflow. May try another night in a mug but don't know what the problem was here. ): So unfortunate.
ReplyDeleteJust made this and it was awesome! Thanks for sharing it. It's a little dangerously addicting.
ReplyDeleteI just made this and it turned out yummy! I topped it with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream when it was done and it was awesome! Thanks for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is literally in my mouth RIGHT NOW and it is diviiine. I'm in love with you. Literally. in. love. I can't wait to try the red velvet recipe!
ReplyDeletethis deffinatley did NOT work for me. it turned out as a spongey chocolate chip pancake. not very good. any ideas on why it turned out the way it did?
ReplyDeleteThis was yummy! I tripled the recipe but only used one egg yolk. My microwave is pretty weak so I put it in for 1:20, then topped it with homemade vanilla ice cream.
ReplyDeleteEugh.. these were awful. They were rubbery and bland.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry but it just didn't taste like a cookie! it didn't even cook all the way through!
ReplyDeleteBEST COOKIE EVER!!! I think I used a little bit extra vanilla, and about 2x the amount of chocolate chips.
ReplyDeleteThese look fantastic, BUT I AM OUT OF CHOCOLATE CHIPS. NOooooooooooo!
ReplyDeleteI've tried a cookie recipe before and it was too cake-like. This, however, is fantastic!!! I LOVE IT! Yum!
ReplyDeleteIt was delicious. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteJust made it! IT WAS DEEEELISH! :)
ReplyDeletejust made it! the first one i cooked for a 1:30min. the cookie came out to hard. the 2nd time i cooked it for 1:00 and it tasted fine!
ReplyDeleteThis was fantastic! I found this on pinterest and decided to make it this morning! :) Instead of the egg yolk I beat one egg and took about a table spoon out of the egg! It wasn't too eggy and I think it was just about right! This recipe is coming to college with me!
ReplyDeleteI was just looking for a single serving sweet treat recipe! Saw this on pinterest. Can't wait to try it!

ReplyDeleteI think i did something wrong because it came out dark yellow and super hard :( What did I do???
ReplyDeleteLove this! I posted about it on my blog! http://thecoppercoconut.blogspot.com/2012/09/cakes-in-mug.html
ReplyDeleteOk! So I tried it and these are my thoughts.
ReplyDelete1. Microwave power. You need to be aware of your own microwaves power and adjust. Mines a 1250 so I brought the power level to 7 and did 50 seconds. It could have been real bad if I would have thrown it in as is.
2. Personally, I will try the oven next. I can wait 15 minutes.
3. I melted the butter in my ramekin so it was pre-greased.
So I tweeked this a bit to make it a bit lower in carbs and to fix the egg dilemma.
ReplyDeleteI doubled the recipe and cooked it in a regular sized cereal bowl. One recipe is not enough!!
Instead of regular flour, I used almond flour/meal. It gave it the cookie texture I was craving.
I also cracked my egg and whisked it in a small bowl and then took one of the shell halves and added two of those full of whisked egg to mixture. You can either cook the rest of the egg for your salad for lunch or add it to puppies or kitties crunches for a surprise treat. I used a Splenda/Stevia mix for the white sugar. The rest of the recipe I left the same. I cooked it for the 60 seconds and let it sit for a couple of minutes to finish cooking. Fantastic!
I made this and it came out too cakey like a sponge. I only ate half. Boo :-(
ReplyDeleteLove this recipe- thank you!
ReplyDeleteSo wonderful, so beautiful, so genius for a single person!!!
ReplyDeleteLoved it!!!!
ReplyDeleteJust made this and it was absolutely amazing! Used about 1/2 the egg yolk and didn't have vanilla, so I added a dash of cinnamon. Also didnt have an chocolate chips. Lol Still turned out great though! Less of a cookie consistency and more of a super moist scone. Great recipe! I will definitely use it again!
ReplyDeleteMaking this tonight! These single serving recipes mean less guilt AND it's a lot easier to make in a college dorm. Do you mind if I use this for my blog? I will fully give you and the original blogger credit.

Wow, I just looked up the calories for this using only 1 TBSP sugar and its 474 calories. I won't be making this again. I wish I would have done this BEFORE I ate it.
ReplyDeleteMonica, a tablespoon of sugar has 48 calories, not 474.
DeleteYour link to the original content and owner of this recipe is broken. Please restore it.
ReplyDeleteMade this tonight and I overcooked it going the full 60 seconds. It still tasted good, but more like a pancake than a cookie...I'll get it right! :)
ReplyDeleteJust made this recipe. So easy and is very good. My cousin told me about the recipe.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing.
I want to make this right now...bugga its 11pm and am missing only one ingrediant!!!!
ReplyDeleteI made this today, after having an extremely awful morning! Made my day a little brighter, despite the clouds and rain outside! Yes - I'm a comfort food junkie! Thanks for sharing this recipe, and I shared it on my blog's facebook page, too!
ReplyDeleteMine came out kind of chalky and weird... it was dry and not cookie-like at all... maybe due to lack of baking powder/soda?
ReplyDeletewhen I click on the link for the original source, it goes back to your page?
ReplyDeleteI am going to try and make this tonight it looks so good. These are the things that make life worth living! Thanks for posting this.....:)

ReplyDeleteI've seen this recipe before and wanted to try it; I stumbled upon it again, realized I have all the ingredients and a few minutes, so I'm eating right now and it's absolutely delicious, especially with a cold glass of milk on the side :)
ReplyDeleteTHIS IS AWFUL!!!!!! far from a cookie. don't try.
ReplyDeleteThey look wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI just made this after reading all the previous comments. I made mine with applesauce instead of an egg yolk and left out a little bit of the flour by accident. I also did it in a shallow microwaveable bowl. And only microwaved it for 40 seconds then 10 more (so 50) and it's a little uncooked on the outside, but its wonderful!! I don't mind half-cooked cookie dough!! Thank you for sharing the recipe!!
ReplyDeleteHow many calories are in 1 serving?
ReplyDeleteI just made this for my husband, it turned out perfectly! I cooked it the full 60 seconds, and added some extra chocolate chips on the top. It was the perfect solution when you are looking for a quick desert. I will make this again for sure!! Two Thumbs up !
ReplyDeletedidn't go over well with adults or kids in my house. will stick to making the real thing. Fun experiment tho
ReplyDeleteI just tried this, following the recipe exactly and cooking for one minute. The dough itself was crumbly, and the finished cookie was dry, crumbly, and very blah tasting. Once it cooled, it was chewy. It also seems like it's missing something completely. Sorry, my family and I are not impressed, and we decided to just put the effort to making real, from scratch cookies. Good luck to anyone else who tries it.
ReplyDeleteI made this twice to make sure I wasn't doing anything wrong because both times it came out like a chocolate chip muffin and nothing like a cookie. What am I doing wrong?
ReplyDeleteCan someone please tell me if I can make with without microwave? :( I don't have any! :(
ReplyDeleteLove your blog!!
ReplyDeleteJust started my own. maybe we can follower each other.
Just visit:

Mine always turns out really crumbly?
ReplyDeleteOne of the things I tried to solve it was a bit of Nutella. Not sure it helped but it certainly was yummy!
omgosh!!! i legit made something similar to this last night for dessert :) love love love !!!
ReplyDeletejust made it and it was sooo gross. it was like eating hot, raw dough. gunna go throw up now.
ReplyDeleteI made this twice to make sure I wasn't doing anything wrong because both times it came out like a chocolate chip muffin and nothing like a cookie. hp android
ReplyDeleteThey look wonderful! harga hp
ReplyDeleteThis looked so good, but when I made it, it came out in crumbles...nothing cookie-like at all! What do you think happened??
ReplyDeleteI vegan-ized this using applesauce as an egg replacement; so soft! I also used honey rather than brown sugar just because I didn't have any on hand.
ReplyDeleteMade it with oat flour (literally just rolled oats + food processor = cheap easy healthy flour) and it was ah-mazing :)
ReplyDeleteComplete fail for me :( it never hit "cookie consistency"... just went from raw to burnt... I think I'll stick to my oven for baked goods!
ReplyDeleteAmazing! Just made this for the first time and it turned out great :) Thank you so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOh these Chocolate Chip Cookies look definitely perfect! I know for a reality no one ever consumes all the factors I create, so I try to range down dishes as much as I can. Usually it’s the egg that gets me because once you begin splitting factors by 3 it gets type of hard
ReplyDeleteMade this tonight with gluten free flour blend (my only change) and it turned out great (and looks exactly like the picture). Cooked for 60 seconds exactly. Yum! :D
ReplyDeleteMade this tonight with gluten free flour blend (my only change) and it turned out great (and looks exactly like the picture). Cooked for 60 seconds exactly. Yum! :D
ReplyDeleteJust tried it.
ReplyDeleteLooks a lot better than it tastes.
EPIC FAIL!! This did NOT turn out anything like the picture. This is TOOO thick to cook in a microwave for 1 minute. It will NOT be done. Try baking in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for about 8-10 minutes.
ReplyDeleteI just finished eating one of these. First attempt, 50 secs in microwave and perfect! So yummy! Maybe just a few less choc chips next time, I went overboard with them! Usually I can down a packet of cookies but just one of these hit the spot! Quick and easy :-D
ReplyDeleteI love this! I made it with coconut sugar and molasses for the sugars, used a whole small banty egg and white rice flour. Turned out great! I did read on some other sites that the glaze used on some mugs may have metals in it, so that could explain some of the issues people are having with it overheating (exploding, overcooked). Also, your elevation and the power of your microwave will affect the end result. I'm at 1000ft, small apartment microwave (1000 watts?) And it worked great. My color always turns out different because of the coconut sugar and molasses i always use, but only the flavors matter. Thanks for sharing this!
ReplyDeleteIt looks delicious...Thanks for the wonderful recipe! I am going to try this one Thanks for sharing it here

ReplyDeleteI love single serving goodies!:) This is for times when I crave cookies but then remember that I already ate the last one the day before :P
ReplyDeleteIf this does not work microwave it for longer. My microwave isn't as powerful.
